About YardCompass

YardCompass makes free, no-nonsense calculators for home and yard projects. The goal is simple: help you walk into the store knowing exactly how much to buy, so you don’t overspend on leftovers or stall a job because you came up short.

Every calculator is built on the same coverage rates and densities the trades use, and each one shows its math so you can sanity-check the result. We round up where it matters — bags, pallets, gallons — and flag when buying in bulk is cheaper than buying by the bag.

How we keep it accurate

Material figures — bag yields, tons per cubic yard, paint coverage — are based on widely published manufacturer and supplier averages. Real products vary, so we treat every number as a planning estimate and tell you to confirm with your supplier before a big order.

Why we built this

Buying materials shouldn’t require a spreadsheet or a lucky guess. We make the math instant and free so you can spend your time on the project itself — not on a second trip to the store.
